​Exercises to maintain optimum Foot Health

As with ANY new exercise program, please consult your primary health care team before starting anything new. This is SO IMPORTANT. 

This infographic gives you some ideas of great exercises to help stretch out the Plantar Fascia Ligament.  Some other ideas are listed below:

1. Use a tennis ball, or in fact any cylindrical object (including a frozen water bottle, which would give you localized ice-treatment too!). While seated, place the item chosen under the ball of your foot and roll the item backwards and forwards along the sole. This loosens up sore foot muscles and releases tension. 
2. Calf stretches are a great way of loosening tight leg muscles which can also help the foot
3. Using MendMeShops's exercise bands, stretch the foot by pulling it towards you using the strong fabric bands. You can alter the position of the bands around the foot to change the depth and comfort of the stretch.

4. Picking up marbles with your toes is another fun way of testing foot/ toe strength and flexibility. Sit on a stable chair, knees bent and perpendicular to the ground. Have two bowls in front of you on the ground, one full of marbles and one empty. Have fun moving marbles with your toes between bowls; remember to clutch the marble between the toe and ball of your foot. ​
